A. Medgift takes security seriously, we use industry recognized best practices to secure your information during and between visits. For example we use HTTPS or Hypertext Transfer Protocol with Secure Sockets Layer to encrypt all data sent to and from medgift.com by your computing device. You can verify this by identifying the green lock along with the letters https in your browser’s URL window. You should never exchange financial or other sensitive data with web sites that do not use this security method.

A. When a support page is created for someone undergoing a hardship, Medgift creates a secure, personal account on their behalf with WEPAY.COM that only they can access. Then, as donations accumulate they can be withdrawn at any time. Withdrawals are accomplished by transferring the donations to the beneficiary’s personal banking account.

A. Actually all donations are made directly to the friend or loved one’s personal WEPAY account through WEPAY’s credit card and financial services. This occurs seamlessly within Medgift’s web site but rest assured WEPAY deposits the funds in the beneficiary’s account in the time it takes for you to make an on-line purchase.

A. The entire amount you donated less a small % charged directly by the merchant processor goes to the beneficiary. MedGift does not charge any fees .

As is true with all credit card transactions, a small percentage fee for processing the transaction is charged by the processor, in our case ,WePay, WePay deducts the standard 2.9% plus $.30 per transaction from each credit transaction. A smaller % is deducted if you choose to donate directly from a bank account. Regardless, of which site you use, this processing fee is standard and is always charged. For example , when you make a $100 donation, the credit card processing fees of $2.90 plus for $.30 for a total of $3.20 are deducted from the donated amount and the remainder is deposited in the beneficiary’s personal account.

This has nothing to do with MedGift or WEPAY but is a function of bank clearinghouse processes.

Calendars

A. MedGift recognizes those experiencing a healthcare journey have unique needs and require personal levels of support. For some, support may mean immediate financial assistance while others may need a simple way to keep their support community up to date on their progress while receiving well wishes back for emotional support.

Still others may have physical needs or need immediate or longer term assistance with routine tasks such as help around the house, transportation needs, maybe a home cooked meal from time to time. For these types of needs we created our Support Calendar.

Here, the support page organizer can identify these specific needs for the beneficiary. Then as a member of the beneficiary’s support network you can request access to view and sign up for these needs as appropriate.
